Assignment for the Class

Here’s a story from News 2.  How many things can you journalism majors, disaffected media watchers and gimlet eyed observers find wrong with it?

    All of them.

This reminds me of that piece in “Byline” where Hem encounters a “war” correspondent who arrives in Madrid with his story pre-written: “There is a terror here…”

I like how they gave lots of examples of racism and “torture”.

Thanks for raising my blood pressure this morning.

I thought specifically of you, Ginger, when I saw that piece.

    Sarcastro –

I don’t understand your problem. These people are saying the system is racist. I don’t know why you would expect some kind of specific, objective (or even subjective) evidence of same. Nor do I see why you should hear another point of view on the matter.

Frankly, I found the woman who didn’t think the system was racist at first and then came to believe the system was racist to be the most convincing of all, especially because she gave no particular reasons for her change of mind.

One thing’s for sure: it will definitely change when there are more African-American teachers. That’s the whole problem, really.
